Hea 02 Indoor Air Quality Plan

Indoor Air Quality Plans encourage a healthy internal environment through the specification of appropriate ventilation, materials and maintenance protocols. The BREEAM standards require that a site-specific indoor air quality plan has been produced and implemented in accordance with the guidance in Guidance Note GN06. The objective of the plan is to facilitate a process that leads to design, specification and installation decisions and actions that minimise indoor air pollution during occupation of the building.

Air Quality

Air Quality Plan have been providing BREEAM Hea02 compliant Indoor Air Quality Plans since 2013. Our team of industry experts have a wealth of experience providing indoor air quality plans and testing to a diverse range of properties and construction sites. By investing in a professional indoor air quality plan, you are ensuring compliance with BREEAM requirements and maximising the potential for achieving required credits.

Whilst previous versions of the BREEAM standard offer a credit for providing a compliant Indoor air Quality Plan, more recent revisions such as BREEAM 2018, BREEAM V6 and BREEAM V6.1 require an Indoor Air quality Plan as a prerequisite for the entirety of the Hea 02 section. This means that without this plan being in place no credits can be achieved under this section at all. As well as achieving the required credits, focusing on air quality provides you with the peace of mind that you have done everything you can to maximise safety.

Air Quality

Our Indoor Air Quality Plans have been designed specifically to help you achieve Criterion 1 in BREEAM Hea02 and includes:

  1. Measures to minimise the introduction of pollution in terms of harmful gases given off by certain building materials, notably VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds) and Formaldehyde.
  2. Measures to dilute and control any of these gases that are introduced.
  3. Procedures for pre-occupancy flush-out (to be done before testing).
  4. Identification of the number and type of, location of and timing of 3rd party testing to prove that post- construction levels of VOCs and Formaldehyde are under control.
  5. An action plan in the event of any test results proving un-satisfactory.
  6. A suitable programme of post-occupancy and on-going monitoring.
