AIR QUALITY PLAN

Experts In Post-Construction Testing

Here at Air Quality Plan, we have significant experience in carrying out post-construction Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) testing to meet the stringent requirements of BREEAM Hea 02. Post-construction inspections are vitally important to ensure that buildings can be occupied safely, without posing health risks, as well as providing for an important BREEAM credit. We are familiar with the stringent methods that are specified under BREEAM and our post construction testing protocols have assisted hundreds of clients in achieving BREEAM credits for their projects.

Air Quality

We are well versed at working with ever-shifting practical completion dates and work flexibly with our clients to ensure the testing is completed at the right phase of the construction process to maximise the potential for satisfactory results. Typically we can be on site within 1 week of an order being placed however, we often attend site visits at 24-48hrs notice to support clients needs.

Our dedicated consultants will ensure that all post-construction testing is carried out to the relevant standard that you are looking to achieve as specifications do vary across the various BREEAM standards.

What Does Post Construction Testing Involve?

As specified in the BREEAM standards, we will typically test for Formaldehyde and TVOC in the air but can easily include other pollutants if required. In line with the specification in the BREEAM standards, we will identity the locations for testing based on occupation rates and room design in order to make sure the post construction testing report will pass validation by BREEAM assessors.

Our team will make sure that all post-construction inspections and tests are carried out in accordance with the very exacting BREEAM Hea02 methods. Our expert team will also provide free advice and guidance to your project manager to help to create the correct environment for the tests as over the years we have found this to be very important to a successful outcome.

Air Quality

All BREEAM indoor air quality monitoring is carried out in accordance with the following standards:

BS EN ISO 16000-4: 2004 Diffusive sampling of formaldehyde in air
EN ISO 16000-6: 2011 VOCs in air by active sampling
BS EN 16017-2: 2003 VOCs – Indoor, ambient and workplace air by passive sampling
BS EN ISO 16000-3: 2001 Formaldehyde and other carbonyls in air by pumped sampling

Post-construction testing for VOCs and Formaldehyde will also bring other benefits:

Our report will provide proof that the building is safe to use (in terms of VOCs and Formaldehyde levels) at the time of the project handover.
Adherence to the UKAS testing standards referenced in BREEAM.
Our independent third party testing can be clearly seen as unbiased.
The post-construction testing will give you specific advice on what action is appropriate if the results indicate a cause for concern.
